Realize Exercise is a program created by Swift Rehabilitation’s team of Physical Therapists and Exercise Physiologists to help those school age children who struggle to meet the school district’s standardized fitness test. The program consists of two small group sessions per week for five weeks, and each session is one hour long. These sessions include forty five minutes dedicated to exercise, including warm up and cool down periods.
Comparative data is collected upon program initiation, program conclusion and at an appropriate time during the training process. Participants are evaluated using the school district’s test as well as Swift Rehabilitations own standards.
To specifically accommodate and maximize the outcome for each participant, Swift Rehabilitation will establish customized weekly goals for each child to accomplish. To see improvement, each child will be responsible for exercising independently at least one day outside of the scheduled sessions each week.
Our plyometric programs can focus on injury prevention or injury recovery based on the specific needs of each patient. Advanced techniques can be used to increase the power and explosiveness in athletic performance while some modifications can be made for rapid submaximal contractions to safely and effectively resume strengthening very soon after surgery.
Taping or Strapping
In most cases, injuries involve multiple areas of the body simultaneously. Tight or weak muscles for example can significantly impact the surrounding joints and lead to poor mechanics which can expand the geographic nature from one area of the body to another. An appropriate application of tape can maximize biomechanics to provide a prolonged stretch if needed or it can limit a joint from entering a painful range of motion. Additionally, weak muscles can be externally supported to decrease pain and speed the increase strengthening and healing process.
Anyone suffering with injuries to the foot and ankle understands how any change to this complex region of the body affects the knees, hips and back. The reverse is also true. It is possible to decrease low back, hip and knee pain using a custom made device placed in the shoe. Each device is specifically designed to support the most appropriate mechanics of each patient following a process of careful evaluation and fitting to ensure long term effectiveness.
